About The Fishbowl

Uptown's newest gallery and event space designed specifically for QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) artists, creatives, and community members. Our mission is to create a safe and nurturing environment where underrepresented voices in the art world can flourish, connect, and co-create.

From our founder:
“I was chatting with my therapist about this 6000+ sqft commercial space I stumbled upon, dreaming about turning it into a gallery, art studio, and event space. They mentioned this quirky fact - a goldfish only grows as big as its tank. And that got me thinking: What if we gave QTBIPOC folk a massive, nurturing 'tank' of their own? Wouldn't they just flourish, expressing themselves genuinely and without restraint? That's when The Fishbowl was born! It's more than just another gallery or artist studio - it's an invitation to take up space, to be bold, to be unapologetically you. Funny enough, we couldn't snag the initial spot due to asbestos, but the universe guided us to this incredible place that, wait for it, actually looks like a giant fishbowl!” - Rya
