Cyanotype Workshop with Rae

from $35.00

Join us for a Cyanotype workshop: Holiday Cards! at the Fishbowl on December 17th, with sliding scale tickets $35+, to explore art inspired by the light with our teacher Rae Hood! Enjoy an evening with a friend and fellow creatives as you discover the magic revealed in your very own cyanotype prints.

Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object on paper coated with a solution of iron salts before exposing it to UV light and washing with water to create stunning white and Prussian blue images.

As always, feel free to bring found materials to experiment with. Translucent and organic materials tend to work great, as well as items with interesting negative space (lace, nets, mesh, etc).

If you have successfully checked out and paid for your class, you officially have a seat in this class. We’ll see you so soon!

About:

Rae is an artist, plant lover and queer portrait photographer based in Seattle. They got their degree in fine arts with a concentration in historical photographic processes in 2013. They rediscovered the cyanotype medium in 2020 when they realized the need to incorporate more play in their creative practice. Their work with their company The Forest Blues is inspired by the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and everything that grows around them.
